It has always been important to Penski, Irvin & Associates to create a comfortable, cozy environment where patients can relax and trust that our outstanding team will take special care of them. It’s easy for patients to unwind in our office, thanks to our amenities. We use aromatherapy in our reception and treatment areas, and provide warm blankets and pillows upon request. Patients can listen to a selection of soothing music on our musical headsets. We also supply heated, moist towelettes after cleanings so that our patients leave the office feeling refreshed. However, the most exceptional amenity that we offer is our welcoming, professional team of doctors and staff members.
Meet Our Dentists
Drs. Judith Penski and Margaret Irvin share a common goal – to provide superb dental care. Their training encompasses general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry; they practice their expertise in a supportive and caring environment to ensure that their patients are comfortable with their treatment and achieve the results they desire.
Judith Penski, D.D.S. – Dancing to a New Beat
Judith Penski, D.D.S., began her career as a professional dancer in New York City after earning her Master’s degree in dance from NYU. She found herself taking an emergency trip to the dentist when she broke a tooth and needed a crown. Intrigued by the work that her dentist performed, Dr. Penski moved to Washington, D.C., to attend Georgetown University’s School of Dentistry. She graduated in 1983 and started her own practice. Dr. Penski later met Dr. Margaret Irvin, and they became partners in 1993.
Dr. Penski is a member of the District of Columbia Dental Society, American Dental Association, and the Greater Washington Academy of Women Dentists. One aspect of her work that she particularly appreciates is the nonverbal communication that she engages in with her patients – she draws on her dance experience to help her connect without using words.
Dr. Penski lives with her husband, artist Robin Rose, and their daughter Hannah Hope, who makes frequent trips to Mom’s office. Dr. Penski enjoys yoga, cooking, gardening, and entertaining friends.
Margaret Irvin, D.D.S. – Turning Passion into a Practice
A native of Washington, D.C., Margaret Irvin, D.D.S., grew up equally passionate about science and art. She studied zoology at George Washington University and later decided to pursue dentistry, a career which would allow her to balance cutting-edge technology with the art of reconstructing smiles, all while raising a family. She graduated from Georgetown University’s School of Dentistry in 1985 and stayed at the school for another year to teach. Dr. Irvin joined Dr. Penski’s office soon after, and in 1993 was named a partner.
Dr. Irvin is a member of the District of Columbia Dental Society and the American Dental Society. She particularly values the opportunity to work with young patients and teach them habits of healthy oral care.
Dr. Irvin has two beautiful daughters, Melissa and Micaela. In her spare time, she likes gardening, cooking, and being with friends and family.

We are highly skilled in performing the most advanced and effective dental procedures, and we take the time to explain each stage of treatment to our patients.
Patient Information
We enjoy welcoming new patients into our practice. Your first visit will last 90 minutes and will include a review of your medical history, a comprehensive examination, and full-mouth radiographs. You are welcome to bring in current X-rays from your previous dentist, or have them sent to our office prior to your visit. A full-mouth series of X-rays should be less than five years old, and your bite-wing X-rays should be less than one year old.
After your first visit, we will schedule you for your first hygiene appointment. Your current dental condition will determine the type of cleaning appointment necessary. Please download our brochure, What Type of Cleaning Do You Need?, for more information on our cleanings.

Our office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:20 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Friday from 8:20 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
